The newly refurbished Explorer of the Seas begins its first European season in 2015 with a host of new and exclusive entertainment features.
Always a great pick for families and travellers who like plenty of variety, the ship now offers an on-board surf simulator along with its three swimming pools, and a 3D cinema to add to its outdoor movie theatre experience. The ice-skating rink features glittering ice-dancing shows as well as family fun sessions, while Royal Caribbean fans will recognisethe line's hallmarks, including the rock-climbing wall and the Royal Promenade, a long avenue at the heart of the ship lined with shops, restaurants and bars.
Several new dining options join Explorer of the Seas' family-friendly staples of burgers, Italian at Giovanni's Table, grills, seafood and casual poolside cafes. Izumi, the line's Japanese restaurant, will open on board, offering sushi, sashimi and 'hot rock' grills.
While the toddlers' and kids clubs keep younger passengers entertained, parents can enjoy gambling lessons and martinis at Casino Royale. The Connoisseur Cigar Club oozes traditional class; a pub, champagne bar, jazz club and nightclub are among the range of other options.
The renovations on Explorer of the Seas also extend to its cabins. Interior cabins now feature a live 'virtual balcony' display, showing views of the ocean and the ship's destinations.
All told, this ships makes for an excellent first-time cruise for all ages, with lots of excitement and a serious amount of 'wow' factor.
